Children and toddlers

Chiropractic for toddlers

Now you’ve made it through those first few months. Things are becoming slightly more predictable for your parents and they too have settled into a routine with you.

As parents, you may  be getting a few more welcome hours of sleep. Your child is probably engaging with you to a greater degree than before and they are starting to explore their world. They can hold their head up and are even starting to roll over. Their trunk muscles are getting stronger in preparation for crawling and walking.

With all this change comes many challenges and strains especially in the musculoskeletal system. Imbalances which were relatively insignificant in the early weeks take on a greater importance and can disrupt patterns of  movement particularly early walking. Limb asymmetries start to show up. Once they start moving and weight-bearing falls and knocks start to further entrain postural problems. This is often the time when we get the babies we saw as new-borns back into the clinic again for a review and tune-up. We can further check on their general development and make relevant recommendations.

Musculoskeletal & Postural Issues for Children in Edgware, Mill Hill and Stanmore

In older children we deal with  simple sports injuries as well as other musculoskeletal conditions such as scoliosis (curvature of the spine) and postural issues in younger children. We can also help with stretching and strengthening routines as a matter of prevention. School bags are also an area we like to address early on to prevent those unwanted loads of those yound spines.

Toddlers and Chiropractic

Challenged children in Edgware, Mill Hill and Stanmore

With the help of our Nutritionist and a local Educationist, we also advise and device nutritional and exercise programmes for children with neurodevelopment syndromes such as dyslexia and ADHD as well as developmental delay and learning issues. We also have alot of experience with children with neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy, where again we help with exercise. Similarly those that may be challenged at school may also benefit from this approach through nutrition and exercise.
